What a dream

Today2 I am looking at the same old me, the same look. Did you ever wonder, can I change the way I look?

Well at age 50 its hard to just make changes to my looks, but I can change the way I dress, or the style of clothes and hair. But face changes, and body changes are going to take some work.

This past year turning 50 I started that bad thinking process of I cant change, im stuck in my ways. The good thing is I can change, but the results are not instant, Ive lived with this body for 50 years now, and if its going to make a change its going to take time to see the results of that change.

When it comes to blogging the good news is you can change your theme, which will change the looks almost immediately. The thing you have to remember is you have to make sure you cover all the details in that theme change our it will look like you did half the job.

Just like our body change you have to take a little time and get it right. Instant change is not as easy as push this button, and all fixed.

Today on the Kickstart program we cover how to change a theme, and update the looks of our blog. But its not just as simple as choose this theme click go live and all done. Join us LIVE today and see all the details you need to make the change seem painless and simple.

See you on todays class.

How soon before adding a sales page?

Just started your blog, and we know you did it to help build your business. You are wondering how soon is to soon to adding your sales pages?

How soon should you be adding a products page?

What other pages should we be adding to our blog?

From the beginning of your new blog, I hope that you have in mind that you are going to use this as another tool to build your business. One of the top questions I get about blogging is how do I make money with a blog?

So if your goal is to build an audience, and you need to someday make money with this. How soon should you be launching those sales pages?

Well you should be adding a page with a list of services you provide in the first week. Yes they are going to change , but as soon as people start reading your blog posts they are going to like you. Once you start to get people to like you, soon they are going to want to do business with you.

So the pages you need to add to your blog, and in the first week would be great.

  1. A work with me page…  The idea is to give readers an idea of how, and what services you provide. Even outline what steps they need to take to get started with working with you.
  2. Contact me page… You want to have a general page for people to reach out with questions about your product, services, or general questions about you and your business. My best recommendation is DO NOT list your email address. Some hackers have built bots that comb websites looking for email addresses, and soon you will find you are on all kinds of spam lists, as well as people who are all about finding any cheap and quick sale they can..
  3. Raving fans, or testimonials page…. People wand social proof that you are as good as your blog tells everyone you are. The best way to do this is adding testimonials. If you have them in both written as well as video it lets people see you are real.
  4. About me page…. This is the first place they will go after reading your blog post they found. People check out people, people do business with people. So the first thing you should do is fill out an about me page. If you are blogging or have a team at your company the best thing to do on an about me page is call it “about our team” and have something about each team member.
  5. Speaking page… This may not apply to all who read this, BUT find the way in your industry to use this. One of the biggest things I am looking for is speaking opportunities at other events. So I have a speaking page. This is a page that is designed to give people a little look at to what I can do for their audience, and hopefully gives them an open door to reach out and hire me to speak.

So I hope you have some of these pages started on your blog, as soon as you can these should be some fixed pages. Set them up and build a menu bar across the top of your page to give your new readers an easy layout to understand you, your business, see what you have done, get a picture of how you can help them, and a door to reach out and hire you.

What do we need next

As I think this morning about what I need to do next in my business, I find that so many things need to be done. One of the biggest things I face, I wonder if you face them as well.

The over whelm of having so much to do. Do you sit and start to write a list of “to do’s” only to find that the list gets longer, and longer. Then you take each task and start to break down you have to do this, and this, and before you know it that one thing turns into 12 steps. The you realize you need to do 10 things before you get to that one 12 step process.

The idea is we all have lots to do on our list, and the more we get done, the more it seams we have to do. We keep adding to that list, and adding, till we wake up one day look at the list and say ” I need a day off”

When it comes to blogging the reason Ive created the 21 day kickstart program was to help people break things down into simple tasks. If you did not have to do it all at once, just follow a simple step and then get back to other important tasks in your business, and life.

Well today in the program we talk about TAGS and CATEGORIES. You see we break down the things we cover into Categories. This makes a few smaller departments of what you teach in your blog.

When it comes to blog training one of the people I have followed over the years was Darren Rowse of Problogger. If you went to their site they have a side bar of like 6 different issues that the blogger might be looking to improve.

That would be the categories. If you write things that are specific to that area mark them with that category. Then its a simple way for those who come to your blog to find the help on that one area of they need in your business. As they may not need the other areas in other categories at this time. Its what I say help them with what they need, and when other areas they need that you teach or help they will trust you more and return.

Now we move to the area of how we get people to find our areas of help. Well this is where the tags come in. If you were to head out the the main reader page of wordpress you would see that you can search based on tags that people have created.

Today we will go more into this on the call. If you have found us on the web and would like to be part of our class each month to kickstart your blog. Join our webinar training list here.  www.RockAroundYourBlog.com

My jukebox story

Today on our class we are going to talk about SEO. When it comes to what I know on SEO, it will not take a class to teach what I know. So why is this so important to many people out in the blogging world???

What tricks do you do for SEO and getting traffic to your site?

I recall the winter idea of talking about my favorite songs. Sitting and writing about how a song from the 1980s so inspired me, I went on to write and share the story from the song and how it inspired me, let alone the guy who it really happened to.

Many people love the inspirational stories, we grab them from sports, drama, comedy, romance. All of which are what keeps the movie industry alive. For me the story that was the most motivating? Juke Box Hero.

A song from the band Foreigner about a young man sitting outside in the rain listening to the concert through the wall.

This post would go on to become one of my most read blog posts of all time. Over 7700 people in less than 3 days would come to read it. An since then many more.

What was my secret?

I talked about something that mattered to me… I shared it, and used the keywords to talk about it. Plus using a picture that had the right coding in it. A title to the photo that would make it key to the image search of “jukebox”.

SEO can be a tricky game, and that post was the where I learned a secret. Want to know more about some of my secrets ?

I teach a blogging class each month, if you would like to get your name on the list to receive an invite to the class just click on http://www.RockAroundYour Blog.com and add your name and email to the list.

Day 2

Today we learned to create an effective About me page that sets us apart from anyone else in our niche and industry.

Here was the Success format we shared.

About ME Page

Success format.

Objective: get them off guard from any thing else anyone is doing in your industry.

5-part format I use to create mine. (Note this works best for personal connections to your business)

  1. Share some personal facts. You do not have to give away all, but just a few things that make it seem personal to the reader.
  2. State or use 3 objections in your industry and why you are not the same as them.
  3. Give 2 or 3 things that you do for your clients.
  4. Write about you but explain what you do different, or what sets you apart from others in your niche or industry.
  5. Give a call to action

First day 2017

My first day in 2017 was a break, that means we took a break. My wife and I enjoyed some great snacks and wine she wanted to make.

We watched the Cowboys lose to the Eagles. And for the first time since moving to Dallas from Philly in 1998 I was hoping the cowboys would beat the eagles.

I enjoyed my day, and I am looking forward to helping you kickstart your blog in 2017.
